Review: ModelCo Lash and Line Mascara

Convenient and Travel Friendly.

It's review time again! This time we're talking about the eyes - more specifically big and bold lashes. I've been using Model Co's Lash and Line two in one Mascara and Eyeliner for a few months to get together a proper review for you all. I've used it from the day I purchased it, all the way to now - when its in a state to be tossed.

What ModelCo say:

Why you need it:
Convenient 2-in-1 mascara and liquid eyeliner product.Uniquely designed mascara wand designed to achieve maximum volume, length and lift to lashes.Smudge, tear and water-resistant.Long-lasting formula.

Packaging:
First off how ingenious is this? Mascara on one side and liquid Eyeliner on the other? Yes please! This product saves room in my vanity and is also a great travel companion. The colour of the packaging is also a thumbs up. I love orange and pink!

Mascara:
This is definitely my favourite part of the product. The wand is made of your typical mascara bristles (i.e. non-plastic) and it has a curve running along one side. This bend makes it easier to capture the inner corner lashes, providing an even distribution of the product along the lash line. The bristles are also quite dense (i.e. has lots of little bristles), making it easier to coat more lashes in the one stroke. The formula isnt wet (thank goodness) and the colour is a rich black.

ModelCo claims that this mascara provides volume, length and lift. I have to say that for the majority of the time I was using it, this was true. From my very first application, I recall instantly seeing fuller and longer lashes. I will note that my lashes curve up naturally so I can't really comment on the 'lift'. Toward the end of the mascaras life, (about 3.5months) I could see that the volume and length it gave my eyelashes started to reduce. This occurred around 3 months in hence it doesn't impact my opinion as it is not unusual for any mascara to do this.

I did love the fact that the mascara didn't give me panda eyes. The only thing that could have been improved was the 'water resistant' claim. While the mascara didn't run down my face when it hit water, small flakes of black did come off on to my cheeks. Having said that, even if there wasn't water, if I had the mascara on for more than 11hours, I did sometimes find flecks of mascara on my face. Not bad considering ELEVEN hours.

Eyeliner:
Now if the mascara hadn't been so good during the first few months, this review may have been a bit more negative. While I love the fact that the eyeliner is attached, I did have a few issues with the formula.

I'll start off with the good. Firstly, the applicator is really sturdy and easy to use. The tip is very thin and as a result, it allows for easy control when doing a winged look. Secondly, the size of the handle was good too. While it may be too small for others, for me it really helped me with getting a precise line. This could be because I have small hands, lol. Finally, the colour of the eyeliner was glossy and jetblack. I loved the finish!

Now for the not-so-good. The eyeliner is super liquidy. Imagine water. Because of its viscosity (or lack of), despite the ease of application, as soon as I put the product on my eye it ran. Everywhere. I found that the liquid filled up any and all lines around my eyelid, so I cant imagine what it would be like for someone with fine lines. Another thing that this led to was black eyes. Sounds gross right? What I mean by this is that the liquid eyeliner was so runny it actually ran into my eyes making the white part of my eye turn greyish-black. It didn't hurt nor was it dangerous, but it was a bit annoying (nothing a tissue and a few blinks couldn't fix). Also because the formula dried quick, it made it harder to remove. This led to a lot of time spent fixing my eye makeup.

Overall:
I do recommend this product, mainly because of how impressed I was by the mascara. My lashes looks so voluminous and long, I felt like I had falsies on. My thoughts on the eyeliner are pretty clear. However, if the formula changed to make it thicker, I think it could be a serious winner. The finish and pigmentation are already top notch.

Despite my issues with the eyeliner, I've already purchase another one. That mascara is a sure winner. I'm going to continue working with the eyeliner side to see what the best method of fuss free application is.

Have you guys tried this? What are your thoughts?
